Visit the Hollywood Bowl this Summer!

No, it’s not a late-December college football game; actually The Hollywood Bowl is an iconic Los Angeles entertainment venue!

The 92-year-old amphitheater is a great place to see your favorite performers. The Bowl features a scenic view of the Hollywood Hills along with its easily recognizable band shell creating a memorable atmosphere for any performance.

Located at 2301 North Highland Avenue, The Hollywood Bowl’s location, a spot originally called the Daisy Dell was chosen based on the natural amphitheater shape of the land.

The Bowl has gone through a series of architectural changes since its founding. Frank Lloyd Wright’s son Lloyd Wright was actually responsible for the first two designs. Wright designed a pyramidal shell for the bowl in 1927, but it was considered too avant-garde so he then designed a more circular shell for the 1928 season.

After the ‘28 season Lloyd’s second design didn’t survive the winter. And in 1929 Allied Architects built a new version that stood until 2003. This shell didn’t have nearly the acoustic properties of Lloyd’s prior versions, but nevertheless it stood the test of time. In 2003 the shell was again replaced. This version incorporated some of the design choices of the 3 earlier versions.

Today the Bowl has modern speakers and video displays and a capacity of 17,376.
