About The Fiscalini Ranch Preserve

Admittedly the preserve isn’t the largest of it’s kind, but according to The Friends of the Fiscalini Ranch Preserve the area “packs more biological diversity into a confined area than many larger properties.”  The preserve is open during daylight hours. Besides the wild plants and animals it’s also a great location to observe sea life, including grey whale migrations between February and April.

The Fiscalini Ranch Preserve was owned by the Fiscalini family for nearly a century before being sold in 1979.  Efforts to develop the land were blocked by several organizations including the Friends of the Ranchland and the American Land Conservancy. Enough money to purchase the land and keep it in it’s natural state was finally raised in 2000 and the ranch is currently managed by the Cambria Community Services District

More information about the preserve can be found on it’s website including a full bird species list, a list of mushrooms and a trail map.
