Spend Your Summer in Santa Cruz
Spend Your Summer in Santa Cruz
Start your summer the right way with a visit to Santa Cruz. Grab your sunglasses, backpack and walking shoes and explore the amazing events the coastal mountains of California have to offer. From the Japanese Cultural Fair and 25th Annual Woodies on the Wharf, to the Redwood Mountain Faire, there’s something happening for everyone!
Japanese Cultural Fair
Embrace Japanese culture on June 8 at the 33rd Annual Japanese Cultural Fair. The Fair takes place at Mission Plaza from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Participate in rich Japanese traditions through crafts, performances and authentic food. Expect matcha ice cream from Marianne’s, sushi from Sushi Market Sprouts and bento box lunches from the Japanese American Citizens League. Check out the full list of food vendors here. After you find some good eats, take a seat and watch a variety of amazing live performances. Traditional Minyou, folk song and dance, Kyogen and bamboo flutes will all take the stage. For a full list of performers, here’s the 2019 fair schedule.
25th Annual Woodies on the Wharf
The 25th Annual Woodies on the Wharf returns to Santa Cruz once again this summer! From June 21-23, wood-bodied cars from near and far flock to Northern California for one of the area’s largest car shows. Take a look at (and take pictures of) over 200 cars on display and enjoy live music, tasty treats, prize drawings and special demonstrations. On Friday, June 21 at 8:30 a.m. be part of Pleasure Point Paddle Out and Get Bendy Yoga. Watch all the woodies parade off the wharf at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, then stake your spot at the Ocean Pacific Lodge for the WOW tailgate dinner.

From 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. each day, visitors can dance the day away with music provided by 22 different bands. Headliner The Brothers Comatose will bring their Americana sound with splashes of bluegrass, country and rock ’n’ roll. The Main Squeeze, Big Sam’s Funky Nation and Dustbowl Revival, to name a few, will also be performing. In addition to live performances, crafts vendors will also be set up throughout the camp. Baizaar and Disco Lemonade are just two of the fest’s 43 craft vendors. Tickets to Redwood Mountain Faire are $25 for adults, $20 for teens (13-17) and seniors (65+) and kids 12 and under are free.
