Santa Barbara is the Place to be in July!


Santa Barbara is one happening place during the month of July! If you’re looking for something to do, here are some fun July festivals that make great weekend excursions.


Goleta Fireworks Festival

Now in its 18th year, this annual event put on by the local Rotary Club has become one of the go-to Independence Day celebrations in Santa Barbara county. Goleta is just a 15-minute drive down US 101 from the town of Santa Barbara and it’s well worth the trip. Book your stay in Santa Barbara and enjoy the scenic drive!


Besides fireworks, the event will include a pie eating contest, watermelon eating contest, hula hoop contest, live music and raffle drawings. This event is alcohol-free! 


Where: Girsh Park, Goleta California 

When: July 4th, gates open at 4pm and fireworks start at 9pm

Admission: $8 (children 12 and under are free)

Pacific Pride Festival

One of the biggest events in the area for the LGBT community, the Pacific Pride Festival’s mission is to “build community, foster visibility, and celebrate sexual and gender diversity while raising funds for LGBT programs and services in Santa Barbara county.”


One of this year’s highlight is a performance by Belinda Carlisle, lead singer of the Go-Gos. Another exciting feature of this year’ event is its new location in downtown Santa Barbara.

French Festival

Taking place each year on Bastille Day weekend,  Santa Barbara’s French Festival is a celebration of all things French culture. According to their website, it’s even the largest French celebration in the western United States!


Now in its 27th year, the French Festival includes:

  • Entertainment – live music paying homage to french styles and culture.
  • Food and Wine – of course authentic French foods and exquisite wines will be available.
  • Arts and Crafts – hands-on activities as well as handmade items available for purchase.
  • Raffle prizes – Grand prize is a French Polynesian Resort Vacation.

When: July 18th and 19th, 11am to 7pm
