About the Fiscalini Ranch Preserve

The Fiscalini Ranch Preserve may not be the largest coastal ecosystem, but it packs more biological diversity into one confined area than many other larger properties. The Ranch is bordered on the north by a mile and a half of riparian habitat that encompasses tidal effect zones, seasonal freshwater marshes, and wetlands. The Ranch is also home to the Monterey pine forest; part of three remaining native stands in the world.

The dramatic ocean bluff is the most outstanding natural feature of the preserve, running more than a mile along the shoreline. The rocky coast rises to a 400-foot ridge with breathtaking views of birds, otters, and migrating whales. Bisected by Scenic Highway 1, the Fiscalini Ranch Preserve offers a rare expanse of nature and solitude within walking distance of visitor accommodations and neighborhoods.

On January 9th, the Fiscalini Ranch will be hosting the annual Mushroom Walk led by Naturalist Al Normandin. Reservations for the walk are required; so reserve your spot now and don’t forget to download the mushroom list to bring with you on your walk!
