Los Angeles to once again Host E3

June will be an exciting time for video games as the industry’s biggest event once again sets up shop at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

E3, the Electronic Entertainment Expo, is the preeminent conference in the electronic entertainment industry. In other words, it’s the world’s biggest video game trade show! This year’s E3 will take place between June 16 and 18.

While free industry passes are no longer available, expo passes are still available for $995 (if you’re a member of the industry or media). Despite being closed to the general public, E3 usually generates some major announcements that affect video game enthusiasts everywhere.

Anticipated Announcements

Exhibitors such as Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft normally use E3 as a platform to make major software and hardware announcements.

Highlights of this year’s E3 will probably include some hardware updates or demos of upcoming devices including Microsoft’s HoloLens, but the industry is somewhat between cycles when it comes to hardware announcements. The bigger excitement will likely be in software, specifically new games!

According to techradar.com, the following games are expected to be announced at E3 2015, which will likely include gameplay demos and demonstrations.

  • Call of Duty: Black Ops 3
  • Guitar Hero Live
  • Tony Hawk
  • Star Wars: Battlefront
  • Halo 5: Guardians

In 1995, the video game industry changed forever with the first Electronic Entertainment Expo. Before that time, the video game industry had been a part of the Consumer Electronics Show, but by the mid-90s it was clear the industry was ready to branch off. Today E3 is one of the major conferences in electronics with over 50,000 attendees annually.
