Farmers’ Markets in Monterey Bay

farmers' markets in monterey bay

What are you guaranteed to find in Monterey Bay, year-round, rain or shine? Some of the area’s most popular farmers’ markets! Every day of the week, you have the opportunity to visit a different Monterey market. With local, regional and international vendors, you’ll find anything you could imagine at these farmers’ markets.

Old Monterey Marketplace

On Tuesdays, join over 10,000 other locals and visitors at The Farmer’s Market at Old Monterey Marketplace. Established in 1991, this market takes over three city blocks and runs year-round, no matter the weather. Located on Alvarado Street between Del Monte and Pearl, this farmer’s market is the largest gathering of people in Monterey County. From May through September, the market is open from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Winter hours (October through April) are 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

It is said that you can “travel the world” in just three blocks at Old Monterey Marketplace. Arts and crafts vendors come from around the world, selling things from places like Africa, Colombia and Mexico, to name a few. Visitors can peruse booths with jewelry, furniture, clothing, food, flowers and more. In addition to shopping, visitors can also donate blood, adopt a dog or even register to vote! For more information, visit the official Old Monterey website.

Monterey Peninsula College

On Fridays, stop by the Monterey Peninsula College for their year-round farmers’ market. Open from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., visitors will find a variety of certified organic and sustainably grown artisan products. Fifty farmers and vendors will showcase things like grass fed meats, handcrafted cheeses, fresh pasta and organic juices. Knife and garden tool sharpening services are also available each Friday. For more information, visit the official Monterey Bay Farmers website.

Other Farmers’ Markets

There are still many other markets across Monterey Bay! In the summer on Tuesdays, guests can visit the Alisal Certified Farmers’ Market or the Carmel Farmers’ Market. On Wednesdays, head to the Natividad Certified Farmers’ Market or the Outdoor Market at the Rodeo.
