Chicago Botanic Garden Kite Festival 2013
The Chicago Botanic Garden will be hosting a kite festival August 10th and 11th. The Festival is a great family event that will feature kite demonstrations, interactive workshops and performances by stunt kite professionals.
Members of the Chicago Fire Kite Team, and the Kite Society of Wisconsin & Illinois will show off their stunt kites and introduce the audience to the sport of team kite ballet.
The Chicago Fire Kite Team’s performance should be an exciting show for any age. The team, formed in 1986, has been in existence for longer than any other competitive sport kite team. They have won 15 American Kiteflier Association national championships in various events including team ballet and team precision. They’ve also performed in front of audiences all over the world including Japan, England and France.
Of course, no kid is going to be satisfied by just watching the kites. So make sure to sign up yours for the Kid’s Mad Dash. The first 30 kids to register for the event will receive a kite they can later use to compete in a highest flight competition! Registration for that event is 11am to 2pm both days.
To make the day complete, refreshments, including ice cream, will be available for purchase during the festival.
