Beat the Heat in Chicago

While the seasons have taken their sweet time changing this year, its true that Summer has finally arrived in the Windy City. You may mostly hear about cold temperatures and undesirable weather from Chitown, but the summer season is the reason why this city has so many residents. And we promise: It. Gets. Hot. Summer is one of the best times to visit this outstanding city so make sure you check out some of these summertime festivities in Chicago to take advantage of all that Chicago’s summer has to offer. Just make sure you remember to pack sunscreen!

Go to the Beach. Yes, an Actual Beach

Sure, Lake Michigan is most certainly a lake but we promise you that once you see it, you’ll want to beg to differ. Lake Michigan is huge and Chicago’s beaches are some of the best in the Midwest. We recommend North Avenue Beach or Fullerton Beach near Lincoln Park for the best shores to dip in and cool off. Whichever beach you choose, you’ll enjoy the sunshine and the stunning Chicago skyline views.

Check Out Crown Fountain

Millennium Park has no shortage of entertainment, this is a promise. With the Bean sculpture at Cloud Gate, rock climbing walls, beautiful gardens, and numerous art installations from the neighboring Chicago Art Institute, you will have no problem keeping busy. But before you leave, cool off by checking out the Crown Fountain. The fountain is an interactive art piece that features large towers with changing faces that spout water into the reflective pool below. All age groups will have fun running through the shallow water and cooling off surrounded by the art around you.

Divvy along Lake Michigan

Lake Michigan’s shoreline is something you won’t want to miss and what better way to take in the city than by soaring down it’s shoreline on your own bike? Divvy is a rideshare program in Chicago that allows residents and visitors the ability to rent bikes for a few hours or a full day if you so choose. With amazing lakefront bike trails that begin at Belmont Harbor, you’ll zoom your way to a Chicago experience you’ll never forget.
