6 Great Santa Barbara Festivals to check out in July!


As one local hotel’s director of sales and marketing put it “July is THE month for festivals in Santa Barbara”, and that certainly is no exaggeration.


The amazing thing about these festivals is the sheer variety, everything from celebrating independence day to appreciating various cultural heritages is covered.



One thing’s for sure, no matter which festivals you attend you’re sure to have a good time at Santa Barbara in July.



Goleta Fireworks Festival


When: 4:00pm to 9:30pm July 4th

Where:  Girsh Park, Goleta CA. 

Admission: $6 (kids 12 and under are free)


Head on over to Goleta’s Girsh Park for a wonderful display of fireworks.The festival includes family friendly entertainment including:

  • Watermelon and Pie Eating Contests
  • John Deere Cars
  • Interactive games
  • Hula Hoop Contest
  • Rock Climbing

Keep in mind, this event is alcohol free. 




Pacific Pride Festival


When: July 12th

Where: Leadbetter Beach


This festival’s mission is to “build community, foster visibility, and celebrate sexual and gender diversity while raising funds for LGBT programs and services in Santa Barbara County.”


Though the festival takes place on the 12th there are multiple Pride Week events leading up to it starting on July 9th.




French Festival


When: July 12th and 13th , 11am to 7pm

Where: Oak Park 

Admission: Free


This event takes place each year to celebrate Bastille day and French cultural history. One of the best features is its wide range of activities that ensures something for everyone to enjoy.  Some of these activities include:

  • Raffle Prizes

The Oak Park French Festival is also actually Santa Barbara’s First Non-Smoking Festival.




California Wine Festival


When: July 17-19

Where: Various Santa Barbara Locations

The event is really a collection of events starting with Old Spanish Nights on the 17th and ending on July 19th at the Beachside Wine Festival.

Greek Festival


When: July 26-27

Where: Oak Park 


Santa Barbara’s Greek Festival is an annual event that, according to their website, is the “Next best thing” to actually going to Greece. The Greek Festival replicates the atmosphere and entertainment of a traditional Greek village. There will also be no shortage of food. Greek classics such as gyros, baklava, and moussaka will be readily available.




Old Spanish Days Fiesta


When: July 30th – August 3rd
Where: Various Santa Barbara Locations

Old Spanish Days in Santa Barbara is a festival that has taken place for almost 90 years. It has grown from a simple parade into the great 8 day long event it is today. For a more detailed look at this even check out our post from last year!
