Chicago Gourmet is presented by bon appétit, with the help of 2016 event partners EXPO Chicago, The Art Institute of Chicago and The Complete Culinary Works. Celebrity Chef Rick Bayless headlines the weekend as the first ever official Host Chef, lending his talent to curate creative new seminars, cooking demos and more (see a full line-up of this year’s talent here). Highlights of Chicago Gourmet 2016 include:
Friday, Sept. 23 from 6-9pm on the Harris Theater Rooftop
Fire up the grill and prepare to feast- it’s burger time! Join top area chefs as they battle it out for Buckhead Beef burger glory while guests enjoy tasty gourmet burgers, beer, wine, spirits and more. A celebrity panel of judges determines the city’s Best Burger award, while guests crown the People’s Choice.
Saturday, Sept. 24 from 8-11pm on the Harris Theater Rooftop
New to Chicago Gourmet 2016- The Tao of Tacos hosted by Chef Rick Bayless will spotlight 12 leading chefs from diverse culinary backgrounds who will bring a worldly approach to their canvas, in this case the humble tortilla. And, to complement the tasty tacos, guests will enjoy special Tequila Cazadores cocktails and delicious Lagunitas beer.
Saturday, Sept. 24 and Sunday, Sept. 25 from 2-4pm on the Harris Theater Rooftop
The exclusive Grand Cru experience provides the ultimate in culinary indulgence with tastings of elite wines from around the world. Serafin Alvarado, Master Sommelier and Director of Wine Education, expertly curates the afternoon’s wine selections for presenting sponsor Southern Wine & Spirits of Illinois. (The Grand Cru is separately ticketed and a same day event ticket must also be purchased in addition to purchasing a Grand Cru ticket.)
